Hyundai Recalls Over 294,000 U.S. Vehicles Over Faulty Seat‑Belt Anchors

What the recall covers

Hyundai Motor America announced on April 10 that 294,128 vehicles will be recalled because the lower seat‑belt anchor can detach from the frame. The affected models include the 2023‑2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan, the 2023‑2026 Genesis G90 luxury sedan, and the 2024‑2026 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid SUVs.

Why the defect matters

A detached anchor could prevent the belt from restraining an occupant in a crash, raising the risk of serious injury. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said six complaints have been logged, but no injuries or deaths have been reported.

Remedy and timeline

Dealers will inspect the anchors, apply a reinforcement kit, or replace the entire assembly at no cost to owners. Notification letters are being mailed, and the recall is expected to be completed by the end of the 2026 model year.
