Actor‑musician Billy Bob Thornton, a Cal Poly alumnus, says his upcoming Boxmasters album “In the Bay,” dropping June 12, draws every track from his months in Morro Bay, California. “Every song was inspired by Morro Bay or I was inspired to write something while I was here,” he told KSBY.

Thornton confirmed he will reprise his role as Tommy Norris in Season 3 of Taylor Sheridan’s oil‑driven drama “Landman,” even as his band hits the road. The reminder comes as a scene from the series, in which Norris explains oil pricing, has gone viral amid rising fuel costs.

Summer Live Dates

The Boxmasters will perform at historic Gruene Hall in Texas on July 16, sharing the bill with Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. A Midwest stop in Springfield is also scheduled for the summer, extending the tour’s reach across the heartland.
