Gina Maria’s Pizza Shuts All Twin Cities Outlets, Files Chapter 7

The 50‑year‑old regional chain ends operations amid an industry‑wide pizza slump.

Gina Maria’s Pizza announced on its website that it had “officially closed its doors” after abruptly shutting its four Twin Cities restaurants—Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Edina and Plymouth—in October 2025. No public explanation was offered.

Court documents show that Northern Brands, the company operating under the Gina Maria’s name, filed for Chapter 7 liquidation on March 26, 2026. The filing marks the final step in winding down a brand that had served the Minneapolis‑St. Paul area for five decades.

The closure reflects a broader downturn: Technomic’s Top 500 Restaurants data indicate that 61 % of pizza chains recorded declining sales in 2024, while coffee chains saw growth in 88 % of cases. Other pizza franchises are also feeling pressure; Papa John’s warned it will shutter 300 underperforming sites by the end of 2026.

Industry analysts say rising food‑cost inflation and shifting consumer habits have squeezed margins, leaving legacy pizza brands particularly vulnerable.
